Woman arrested with illegal goods at Gaurifanta border crossing
Dhangadhi: Indian police have arrested a Nepali woman with illegal goods under the Kavach scheme being implemented to control smuggling along the Nepal-India border.
During a check by Gaurifanta police on Friday afternoon, Ishwori Kumari Bhatta was arrested near a bridge, about 500 meters ahead of Bangaun Bazaar. She is a resident of Jorayal Rural Municipality-6 in Doti.
According to police, Bhatta was found illegally bringing 29 ladies’ suits, 4 sarees, 20 packets each of almonds and cashews, 10 packets of dates, and 10 packets of lodi system tobacco into Nepal in plastic bags, black foil, and backpacks. The estimated value of the seized goods is around 29,000 Indian rupees, according to Indian police.
All seized items have been confiscated as per regulations and handed over to the Customs Office, Gaurifanta, according to Indian police.
