Janak Pariyar arrested over statement threatening monasteries and temples
Kathmandu: Police have arrested Janak Pariyar, who had reportedly made statements announcing plans to set fire to monasteries and temples. Pariyar, a resident of Aathbiskot Municipality-12 in Rukum West, was arrested from Tokha in Kathmandu.
According to SP Pawan Bhattarai of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, Pariyar has been taken into custody for investigation.
At a program organized at Sambad Dabili in Anamnagar, 27-year-old Pariyar had stated, “We will set fire to monasteries and temples.” He had also warned of a nationwide uprising if equal rights were not ensured.
Pariyar, who is also the coordinator of Genji United, has claimed that Dalits are forced to live a hellish life and that the condition of Dalits in villages is severe. His statements have been circulated through various YouTube channels.
According to police, Pariyar was currently residing in Baniyatar in Tokha Municipality-8.
