Parliamentary hearing of proposed Chief Justice concludes, decision pending
Kathmandu: The parliamentary hearing of Supreme Court Chief Justice nominee Manoj Sharma has concluded, with a decision expected soon.
During the session, members of the parliamentary hearing committee posed questions to Sharma. After he responded, committee chair Bodh Narayan Shrestha invited members to ask supplementary questions. As no further questions were raised, he announced the conclusion of the hearing.
In his responses, Sharma asserted that there is no factionalism within the Supreme Court. “There is no factionalism in the Supreme Court,” he said while addressing concerns raised during the hearing.
He also dismissed questions regarding the filing of a writ against him, stating, “There is no conflict between the bar and the bench. It seems that something has happened between the bar and the administration.”
Sharma further rejected allegations labeling him as a “Nepo Baby,” emphasizing that his career progression has been based on his qualifications and abilities. “It does not mean that one should not get an appointment just because of family ties,” he said.
