Collection of biometric details of MPs underway for electronic parliamentary attendance
Kathmandu: Members of the federal parliament have begun providing biometric details in large numbers for the purpose of electronic attendance in meetings of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.
The Parliament Secretariat had requested MPs to submit their biometric details to enable electronic recording of attendance in the meetings of both houses.
The Secretariat has asked MPs to visit the offices of various committees in Singha Durbar from today until April 10 and provide their biometric details.
Parliament Secretariat spokesperson Ekram Giri said that MPs have been requested to submit the details again as attendance records previously managed at the International Conference Center in Naya Baneshwor were destroyed during the Genji movement.
He informed that in the first phase, electronic attendance will be recorded for House meetings, while electronic attendance for committee meetings will be implemented gradually.
Both houses of Parliament are scheduled to meet from 2:00 PM on April 10.
