Nationwide police operations: 51 arrested on various charges, three killed in road accidents

Kathmandu: A police team on regular patrol has arrested 51 individuals from different parts of the country on various charges, including drug-related offenses. According to the Central Police News Room, 15 people were arrested with drugs on Tuesday from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Rupandehi, Siraha, Chitwan, Nawalparasi East, Kailali, Sunsari, and Surkhet in a single day.

Controlled drugs such as norphen, phenergan, spaspen, tramadol, IPPL, and diazepam, which can only be purchased with a doctor’s prescription, along with illegal substances including brown heroin and marijuana, were seized from those arrested.

Five arrested on charges of fraud
Five individuals have been arrested on charges of defrauding people by promising lucrative salaries for foreign employment and sending them to various countries.

Those arrested are Sandeep Thapa Magar, 22, of Kathekhola Rural Municipality-3, Baglung; Nir Bahadur Karki, 43, of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-3; Bijay Kumar Yadav, 39, of Chakraghatta Rural Municipality-2, Sarlahi; Chiranjivi Adhikari of Chandragiri Municipality-5, Kathmandu; and Prabhesh Gurung, 30, of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-1, Ramechhap, according to the Central Police News Room.

Preliminary investigations indicate that they defrauded the public of more than Rs 5 million by promising foreign employment opportunities in Malta, Croatia, Canada, and Macau. The arrested individuals have been handed over to the Department of Foreign Employment for further investigation and action.

Absconding defendants arrested
Police have arrested two absconding defendants in a cheque dishonor case. The individuals, Purna Bahadur Dimdung, 47, of Bagmati Rural Municipality-7, Makawanpur, and Salija Kandangwa, 58, of Phidim Municipality-4, Tehrathum, had been sentenced to two years in prison by the District Court Makawanpur on 13 Magh 2081. They were apprehended by a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.

19 arrested from casino
Nineteen Nepali citizens have been arrested while gambling at Royal Kalinga Casino in Siddhartha Municipality-10, Rupandehi. Police from the Lumbini Province Police Office, Dang, and the District Police Office, Rupandehi, carried out the operation last night. Authorities recovered Rs 95,500 in cash, 50 casino coins, and 17 mobile phones.

10 arrested while gambling
Ten individuals, including 51-year-old Chitra Bahadur Ranabhat of Pokhara Metropolitan City-13, Kahunkhola, were arrested while gambling at Eatzone restaurant. Police from the Ward Police Office, Rambazar, seized Rs 77,180 in cash and 899 playing cards during the operation.

Three killed in motorcycle accidents
Three individuals have died in separate motorcycle-related incidents.

Vishal Dhami, 30, of Kirtipur Municipality-4, Salyantar, died when a motorcycle (Ba Pra 02-036 Pa 0966) crashed on the road at Dhunge Adda in Chandragiri Municipality-15, Kathmandu.

Sujan Tamang, 34, of Nuwakot, died when a motorcycle (Ga 17 Pa 812) crashed near the Western Campus of Pokhara Metropolitan City-16, Kaski.

In Saptari, 74-year-old pedestrian Mishri Lal Khang died after being struck by a motorcycle (Ba 58 Pa 2028) on the road at Golchowk in Saptakoshi Municipality-1, according to police.
