Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Poudel has issued an ordinance related to the Constitutional Council. The ordinance was issued today following its re-recommendation by the government.

President Poudel had earlier issued seven of the eight ordinances recommended by the government but had returned the ordinance concerning the Constitutional Council for reconsideration. The ordinance was issued today after the Cabinet meeting held on Monday re-recommended it without any changes.

The issued ordinance stipulates that a quorum for a meeting of the Constitutional Council will be met with the presence of four members, and decisions can be made by a majority of the members present.

The Constitutional Council, chaired by the Prime Minister, consists of six members. Its members include the Prime Minister, the leader of the main opposition party, the Chief Justice, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Deputy Speaker, and the Chairperson of the National Assembly.
