Khaptad Chhededah-6 ward chairman Harka Bahadur Bista dies of brain cancer

Bajura: Harka Bahadur Bista, Ward Chairman of Khaptad Chhededah Rural Municipality-6, has passed away. He died last Wednesday night at his residence in Naina after battling brain cancer for the past two to four years.

Bista had been elected as Ward Chairman from the Nepali Congress in the 2079 BS elections.

His death at nearly 48 years of age has left his family and residents of the municipality in shock. Known for his active involvement in community work, he was regarded as a dedicated local leader.

Deputy Chairman of Khaptad Chhededah Rural Municipality-6, Bisu Nath, confirmed that Bista passed away at around 9 pm on Wednesday at his home. He said, “He was suffering from brain cancer. He had undergone surgery at Bir Hospital a couple of years ago. After the surgery, the doctor advised him to limit speaking, take rest, and attend regular follow-up visits.”

Vice President Nath stated that due to weak financial conditions, Bista was unable to continue his treatment, leading to his death.

The late chairman is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters. Following his passing, the family is facing additional financial difficulties. According to relatives, his cremation will be carried out today at a nearby river in accordance with Hindu traditions.
