Gen-z movement Nepal calls for immediate dismissal of Home minister Sudhan Gurung
Kathmandu: Gen-z Movement Nepal has demanded that the government immediately remove Home Minister Sudhan Gurung from his post.
Following reports of Gurung’s partnership with controversial businessman Deepak Bhatt, the movement’s spokesperson Vijay Shah issued a statement calling for Gurung’s dismissal and arrest to ensure a fair investigation into the serious allegations against him.
The statement said that the investigation process could be compromised if Gurung remains in office, describing it as a clear conflict of interest. It further emphasized that holding public office while under investigation violates basic ethical and legal principles, insisting that his resignation is necessary to ensure justice.
The movement also urged Prime Minister Balendra Shah to demonstrate maturity, foresight, and accountability. “The decision of who to include in the cabinet is a serious political and moral matter. The practice of appointing and removing ministers on a whim is no longer acceptable,” the statement said.
Additionally, the movement warned against engaging in opportunistic politics at the expense of public sacrifices, noting that the current government represents a mandate achieved through the sacrifices of 76 martyrs. It stated that there will be no tolerance for compromise or delay on issues related to good governance, transparency, and accountability.
