One arrested for attack on Armed Police Force in Kailali, search for others ongoing

Dhangadhi: A person arrested for entering the Armed Police Force camp in Khakraula, Kailali and attacking Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pradeep Poudel has been sent to prison.

The Kailali District Court has ordered to send 40-year-old Ram Bahadur Saund of Tikapur Municipality-9 to prison for remand after a custody hearing on Thursday. The District Police Office has stated that he was sent to prison on the same day following the court order.

According to DSP Yogendra Timilsina, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Pradeep Poudel had registered a criminal nuisance case against Saund and five others in connection with the same incident.

Nayan Saund, Sarpraj Saund, Suresh Khadka, Ramesh Khadka of Tikapur and Rashid Alikhan of Lakhimpur Khiri, India, are absconding on charges of involvement in the incident. Police have stated that their search is ongoing.

It is said that the dispute started after the Armed Police Force Khakraula Gulma confiscated the GST bill and goods that had passed Indian customs. Then, when a team of the Tikapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry reached the Gulma for discussion with the businessmen, raising objections, the Armed Police Force, including the DSP, were attacked.

After the incident, the Armed Police Force examined the bill and found the documents to be correct, and the goods were returned to the concerned businessmen through the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Police have stated that the Armed Police Force personnel, including the DSP who were on duty during the incident, were dragged to the headquarters and the investigation process was taken forward.
