Mahendra highway reopens in Ghodaghodi after compensation agreement

Dhangadhi: The Mahendra Highway at Aamkhaiya, Ghodaghodi-8, Kailali, which had been closed since 10 am by locals, has reopened following an agreement on compensation.

The blockade was initiated by the family of Roshan Chaudhary, who died in a scooter accident on the night of Chaitra 22. The scooter (Sudurpaschim Province 01-012 Pa 5929), traveling from west to east, crashed on the East-West Highway at Gauriganga Bridge in Mangalpur, Gauriganga Municipality-1, Kailali, on Sunday night.

According to the District Police Office, Kailali, Chaudhary was seriously injured in the accident and later died during treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital, Dhangadhi.

Locals had closed the highway demanding that Chaudhary’s family receive proper compensation. Kailali police confirmed that the highway has been reopened after the compensation issue was resolved in accordance with the law.
