'FAPLA Cricket Stadium' to be promoted as national pride project, says Minister Pokharel
Dhangadhi: The ‘FAPLA International Cricket Stadium and Sports Village’ in Dhangadhi will be promoted as a national pride project, Education, Science and Technology; Youth and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel has announced. During an on-site inspection on Tuesday, Minister Pokharel evaluated the project’s progress and stated that the government will prioritize its implementation.
According to Minister Pokharel, key technical processes, including land acquisition, the Detailed Project Report (DPR), and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), have been completed. The project’s inclusion in the National Project Bank is expected to accelerate budget allocation and construction work.
Describing the FAPLA project as a ‘game changer,’ Minister Pokharel said it will enhance sports infrastructure, promote tourism in the Far West, and contribute to the country’s economic development.
Members of the House of Representatives, including Ananda Bahadur Chand, K.P. Khanal, and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Bhupdev Shah, were part of the inspection team.
Subash Shahi, Chairman of the FAPLA Infrastructure Construction and Development Committee, stated that the project has now entered the construction phase after extensive preparation and that ministerial-level interest has provided additional momentum to the work.
The MPs expressed their commitment to providing necessary support from the government and parliament to ensure timely completion. If construction is accelerated, the FAPLA Stadium is expected to become one of the best sports villages in South Asia.
