Rain and snowfall expected in hilly and mountainous areas; gale warning issued for terai

Kathmandu: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted rain and snowfall in hilly and mountainous regions of the country, with a possibility of gale-force winds in some parts of the Terai.

Currently, the country is under the partial influence of westerly and local winds. As a result, the mountainous areas of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces are generally cloudy, while other regions remain partly cloudy.

The division has forecast that this afternoon, the mountainous areas of all provinces, particularly Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim, will be generally cloudy, while other areas will be partly cloudy. Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is possible at some places in the mountainous areas of Gandaki and Karnali provinces, and at one or two locations in the mountainous regions of other provinces. Windstorms may occur in some parts of the Terai.

Further, moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in certain areas of the mountainous regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while light rain or snowfall may occur at one or two places in the mountainous areas of other provinces.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has advised the general public and relevant authorities to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather information.
