Oli appears virtually in court as hearing on custody extension continues
Kathmandu: Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was presented virtually at the Kathmandu District Court via video conference on Sunday as proceedings continued regarding the extension of his custody.
Oli, who was arrested from his residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur on Saturday morning, was brought before the court for a hearing on the extension of his detention period.
According to Ramhari Sharma Kafle, Associate Attorney at the District Government Attorney’s Office, the court is currently deliberating on two matters: the validation of the arrest warrant and the extension of the custody period. He stated that Oli is connected live to the court and is available to provide additional statements if required.
The report of the inquiry commission formed to investigate the Genji movement of Bhadra 23 had recommended action against Oli. Following a Cabinet decision to implement the report, he was taken into custody on Saturday morning.
Oli is currently undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan Teaching Hospital due to health issues. He was presented in court virtually in consideration of his health condition.
