15-year-old boy goes missing while swimming in Mahakali river

Khalanga: A 15-year-old boy has gone missing while swimming in the Mahakali River in Darchula.

Dheeraj Dhami of Byas Rural Municipality-6 disappeared while swimming near the Mahakali Municipality-5 Bus Park today, according to Police Inspector Devendra Budhathoki of the District Police Office. Dhami, who was staying in a tent in the district headquarters, Khalanga, had gone swimming with his friends when the incident occurred.

While his two friends who were swimming with him are safe, Dhami drowned and disappeared in the river. He was a Grade 9 student at Mahendra Secondary School, Khalanga.

Police have confirmed that a search operation is currently underway to locate him.
