Seven Indian nationals killed in microbus crash returning from Manakamana in Gorkha

Gorkha: Seven people died when an electric (EV) microbus returning from a visit to the Manakamana temple crashed in Kantar, Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-3, Gorkha at around 8 pm on Saturday. All the deceased have been confirmed to be Indian citizens.

The microbus, bearing the number 06-06 Kha 8430 of Bagmati Province, fell about 200 meters off the road. A total of 15 people, including the driver, were on board the vehicle.

Seven people died on the spot in the accident, while the remaining eight were rescued and taken to hospital. Seven of the injured are receiving treatment at Aanbukhaireni Hospital in Tanahun. As the condition of one of the injured is serious, the patient has been referred to Bharatpur in Chitwan for further treatment. According to the police, the condition of the other injured passengers is normal.

Armed Police Force and Nepal Police personnel were deployed at the scene for the rescue operation. Initial investigations indicate that the accident may have occurred after the brakes of the EV vehicle overheated and failed while the microbus was traveling on a downhill road.
