Shuklaphanta displaced families end 210-day hunger strike after assurance from MP Bohara
Kanchanpur: Families displaced during the expansion of Shuklaphanta National Park ended their hunger strike that they had started 210 days ago on Monday. The displaced families broke their hunger strike in the presence of newly elected member of the House of Representatives, Deepak Raj Bohara.
They ended the hunger strike after Bohara, elected from Kanchanpur Constituency-2, expressed his commitment to take initiatives to solve the problem of permanent settlement of the displaced families. The displaced families had been protesting for a long time demanding rehabilitation. Recently, they had been continuously on hunger strike by pitching tents on the roadside near Banhara, Krishnapur Municipality-2.
MP Bohara said that the problem of the displaced families was serious and pledged to address it as a priority. He said that he would study the reports prepared by the commissions formed in the past and take concrete initiatives for rehabilitation.
