Baitadi mobilizes over 2,500 security personnel for election security
Baitadi: Security preparations have been made in Baitadi to conduct the House of Representatives elections in a free, fair and fear-free environment. About 2,600 security personnel will be mobilized across the district for election security.
Chief District Officer Krishna Thapa informed that the District Security Committee has decided to deploy 2,590 security personnel, including personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army and Election Police.
He said that the number of security personnel can be increased or decreased as per the requirement. A total of 1,375 election police personnel have been selected in election-targeted Baitadi.
Basic training is currently being conducted for them, which is expected to further strengthen the security of polling stations.
As part of the security strategy, the Nepal Army has established security bases in Patan, Khodpe and Sullekhan of Shivnath. Similarly, Chief District Officer Thapa said that an Armed Police Force Nepal security base has also come into operation in the Patan area. According to the District Security Committee, out of 129 polling stations in the district, 33 have been classified as highly sensitive, 28 as sensitive and 68 as general. A total of 214 polling stations have been set up across the district.
Preparations for election management have also been intensified. District Election Officer Khagendra Bharati informed that 1,442 employees will be mobilized for the election, including a 10 percent reserve. He said that details have been collected from government offices in the district for employee mobilization and the recruitment process will be started soon.
The District Administration Office, Baitadi, has stated that all security, employee management and preparatory work will be completed on time to create an environment where voters can vote with confidence.
