Mahendranagar: The intersection where Brahmadev Link Road meets the East-West Highway in Mahendranagar has been officially named ‘Bipin Chowk’ in honor of Bipin Joshi. The Bhimdutta Municipal Executive approved the decision, and a nameboard was installed at the site on Friday.

Ward Chairman of Bhimdutta Municipality-3, Gagan Singh Dhami, stated that the intersection was named to commemorate Bipin’s courage and contributions during his time in Israel. He also mentioned plans to erect a statue of Bipin at the same location in the future. The naming coincided with Sri Panchami, a day significant as Bipin was a student, Dhami added.

Bipin Joshi, a student of the Faculty of Agriculture at Sudurpaschim University, had traveled to Israel two years ago under the ‘Learn and Earn’ program. He died while under Hamas control, and his body was repatriated to Nepal on November 3 after the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. His last rites were performed the following day at the Mahakali River.

Bipin’s father Mahananda Joshi, brother Kishore Joshi, and other family members attended the Bipin Chowk declaration program. Ward Chairman Dhami also informed that the Bhimdutta Municipal Executive has recommended to the federal government, through the District Administration Office, that Bipin be declared a martyr.
