Discussion on election code of conduct
Far West: In preparation for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21, the election code of conduct was discussed in Dhangadhi today.
In an all-party meeting organized at the Chief Electoral Officer's office, the Election Code of Conduct-2082, the procedure to be followed during the registration of nomination papers, and peace and security management were discussed.
Chief Electoral Officer and District Judge of Kailali District Constituency No. 5 Bhuwan Singh Thapa opined that since elections are the backbone of democracy, all parties should shoulder their responsibility from their respective places to conduct them in a fair, clean, credible and fear-free environment.
Chief District Officer Hiralal Regmi said that if everyone follows the election code of conduct to the letter, it will help make security management more effective. He informed that a strategy is being prepared keeping in mind the security before, on and after the elections.
Assistant Electoral Officer Chetraj Panta and Chief of the Provincial Election Office Premraj Bhatta informed about various aspects of the election preparations in the meeting. Representatives of various political parties, security agency officials, and media personnel participated in the discussion program.
