Dhangadhi: The Far West Province government’s cabinet meeting held on Sunday endorsed several key decisions, including financial assistance for the family of a prisoner who died in a clash at Kailali Prison.

The meeting approved the provision of financial relief to the family of prisoner Bharat Chaudhary, who lost his life during a clash between two groups inside Kailali Prison on July 23. Earlier, a Provincial Security Committee meeting held on July 25 in the presence of Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah had decided to provide Rs 500,000 in assistance to Chaudhary’s family, a decision that has now received cabinet approval.

The cabinet also approved the ‘Road Maintenance Group Directive’ aimed at institutionalizing a road maintenance system across the Far West Province. Under the directive, regular maintenance of blacktopped roads constructed by the provincial government will be carried out through designated maintenance groups. The provincial government has been constructing around 200 kilometers of blacktopped roads annually, and regular upkeep is expected to extend their lifespan.

In addition, the meeting approved the ‘Far West Province Vocational Guidance Service Operation Procedure, 2082’. The cabinet further decided to approve the submission of a bill to amend the ‘Far West Public Health Service Act, 2076’ to the Provincial Assembly.
