National Topi day celebrated with enthusiasm in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi: National Dress and Dhaka Topi Day was celebrated in Dhangadhi with a morning procession organized by Sudur Nepal Sanskriti Sewa Samaj. The rally, which began at Dhangadhi Intersection, concluded at Laxminarayan Temple.

On the occasion, Province Chief Nazir Miyan, Dhangadhi Municipal Chief Gopal Hamal, Deputy Chief Kandakala Kumari Rana, and Chief District Officer Hiralal Regmi were presented with Dhaka topis by Society President Hem Adhikari.

Province Chief Miyan and Municipal Chief Hamal extended their best wishes and appreciated the efforts of Sudur Nepal Sanskriti Sewa Samaj in promoting Nepali culture. Local residents highlighted the importance of the day; Kopila Kunwar noted that the celebration aims to inspire the younger generation to wear the Dhaka topi as its use has declined, while Saroj Yadav emphasized that the topi is a common identity of all Nepalis and symbolizes Mount Everest.

Society General Secretary Jom Adhikari stated that the organization has been conducting various programs to preserve culture and traditions for future generations. Society President Hem Adhikari added that the Dhaka Topi represents the identity and pride of Nepalis and that the day is celebrated annually on Poush 17 to encourage people to wear the traditional hat.
