Dhangadhi: The Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly, which was postponed following the Gen-z group’s agitation on Bhadra 23 and 24, appears set to resume.

The Provincial Assembly Secretariat has begun preparations for the meeting. Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari has called a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee to discuss the operation of the Provincial Assembly. The meeting scheduled for Monday will deliberate on resuming assembly proceedings as well as the future course of action regarding bills pending in the Provincial Assembly, said Dev Bahadur Bogati, Secretary of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat.

Speaker Bhandari has proposed to the provincial government that the ongoing budget session be concluded and a winter session be convened. However, a final decision on this matter has yet to be made. The session had been postponed following the Gen-z movement on Bhadra 23 and 24.

The Provincial Assembly Secretariat stated that the Speaker has expressed the view that ending the budget session and proceeding with the winter session would be appropriate. The winter session is generally regarded as a session focused on passing bills and formulating laws. According to the secretariat, work related to the installation of technical equipment and placement of chairs in the Provincial Assembly building is still pending. Secretary Bogati informed that all remaining work could be completed soon and that the Provincial Assembly meeting may be held by Poush 10.
