Sher Bahadur Deuba set to contest eighth term from Dadeldhura

Dadeldhura: Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is expected to contest for the eighth time from Dadeldhura, the district with a single House of Representatives constituency.

District leaders stated that Deuba, who has secured victories in elections since 2048 BS, is preparing to run again in the upcoming election scheduled for Falgun 21. The Congress District Working Committee Dadeldhura has recommended his name as the sole candidate to the central office, according to Dadeldhura Congress President Bhim Bahadur Saud.

Saud added that a meeting of Congress Dadeldhura on Wednesday decided to forward Deuba’s name to the Sudurpaschim Province Committee. Deuba had earlier informed local leaders that he would contest the House of Representatives election for the last time. He has previously won elections from Dadeldhura in 2048, 2051, 2056, 2064, 2070, 2074, and 2079 BS.

In addition, the names of Narbhan Kami, Mankumari Thapa, Tarak Budhaair, Basanti Bhandari, and Ishwori Chand have been recommended for proportional representation. Bhim Bahadur Saud and Raghubar Bhatta have been recommended for the National Assembly.

Narbhan Kami had been elected to the Constituent Assembly through proportional representation in 2070 BS. Bhim Bahadur Saud, recommended for the National Assembly, currently serves as Congress Dadeldhura President and was previously elected mayor of Parshuram Municipality in the 2074 local elections. Raghubar Bhatta, a former Congress Dadeldhura President, also previously led the District Development Committee and contested unsuccessfully for the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly from Constituency ‘A’ in 2074 BS.
