Ten arrested for arson at Kailali district court and jail during Gen-z Movement

Dhangadhi: Ten individuals have been arrested in connection with arson incidents at Kailali District Court and Kailali Jail during the Gen-z movement on 24 Bhadra. According to the Kailali District Police Office, six were arrested for arson at the court, while four were taken into custody for arson at the jail.

Acting Police Spokesperson Police Inspector Kailash Singh Bista stated that the arrests were made on different dates from the Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City area.

Those arrested for arson at the District Court include 24-year-old Ashish Bhandari, 30-year-old Aman KC of Dhangadhi-3, 24-year-old Bharat Bam of Purchaudi, Baitadi, currently residing in Dhangadhi-3, Alex Chand of Dhangadhi-7, and Laxman Bahadur Bista and Manoj Bista of Dhangadhi-1.

During the protest on 24 Bhadra, vehicles, office buildings, various case files within the District Court premises in Dhangadhi-1, as well as computers and other IT equipment, were set on fire and vandalized. The District Court subsequently filed a complaint with the police demanding action against those responsible, which led to the arrest of six individuals from Dhangadhi.

Similarly, four individuals have been arrested in connection with arson at Kailali Prison: 28-year-old Gopal Bhatta of Dhangadhi-2, Suraj Katuwal alias James of Dhangadhi-3, 40-year-old Basantaraj Joshi of Dhangadhi-9, and 19-year-old Ankit Saxena of Dhangadhi-9, according to Police Inspector Bista.
