Fire at Goa nightclub claims 25 lives, including four Nepalis
Goa: A fire at a nightclub in the tourist resort area of Goa, India, has claimed the lives of 25 people, including four Nepali nationals, officials confirmed on Monday.
Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Shankar Sharma, expressed grief over the incident and extended condolences to the bereaved families while praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Most of the deceased were Indian nationals, primarily nightclub employees, along with holidaymakers from New Delhi.
Authorities reported that the fire broke out at a club in Arpora, located in northern Goa, possibly triggered by the use of electric firecrackers. The flames, which started in the wooden sections of the club, quickly spread, affecting the majority of the victims.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that four individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, and investigations have been ordered at other nightclubs in the area.
