Finance Minister Khanal warns of legal action against those involved in Gen-z movement vandalism
Dhangadhi: Federal Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has stated that legal action will be taken against those who were involved in destructive and unlawful activities during the Gen-z movement.
While monitoring the damaged building of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Sudurpaschim Province, he said that the complete facts would become clear only after the investigation committee submits its report.
Responding to questions regarding the damage caused by arson and vandalism at the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers’ Office during the Genji movement on Bhadra 24, he said that it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage. He added that it would only be possible to differentiate between the agitators and those involved in destructive activities after the high-level investigation committee submits its findings.
Stating that reconstruction work is moving forward rapidly across the country, Finance Minister Khanal said that the provincial government is currently assessing the damage and that the federal government will provide financial support if required. He informed that reconstruction has already begun in some offices and is underway in others, and claimed that the entire reconstruction process will be completed within three years.
Finance Minister Khanal also said that the government’s first priority is to ensure a fair and fearless election. He had met with provincial ministers, including Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, who were present in Dhangadhi for the inauguration of the Sudurpaschim Festival.
