Dhangadhi: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Nazir Miya has emphasized the need to eliminate all forms of discrimination.

While reviewing the annual report of the National Human Rights Commission Sudurpaschim Province for the last fiscal year, he stated that greater efforts are required to end discriminatory practices. “Various discriminations still exist in our society. Although issues like caste-based discrimination and the Chhaupadi system have decreased, they have not been fully eradicated,” he said. “These harmful practices must now be eliminated.”

Expressing satisfaction with the work of the Human Rights Commission, Provincial Chief Miya said the Commission should be strengthened with more resources and technology. He noted that human rights violations have decreased due to the Commission’s efforts and suggested that it also take proactive measures to prevent such violations, highlighting the rising issue of landlessness.

The annual report includes the human rights situation in Sudurpaschim, incidents of violations, and the Commission’s activities. While handing over the report, acting head of the provincial office, Jhankar Rawal, briefed Provincial Chief Miya on the Commission’s work over the past year.

He emphasized that the government should study the report thoroughly and implement the recommendations. Provincial Chief Miya said the report would be discussed in the provincial assembly through the provincial government and expressed confidence that it would contribute to addressing existing problems.
