Dhangadhi: The Student Quality Cycle (SQC) Sudurpaschim Hub is set to organize a conference on Saturday, November 13, at Nandinaz Academy, Dhangadhi. The organizing team shared details about the event’s objectives and preparations during a press conference held at Nandinaz Academy on Friday.

The conference will be chaired by Hub Coordinator Deepak Bhatta and co-chaired by Nandinaz Academy Executive Director Mahesh Bista. According to the organizers, 120 students — including presenters and observers — from 15 schools in Kailali and Kanchanpur will participate, along with 25 teachers, various school principals, and education experts.

SQC is a key educational program implemented in Nepal since 2005 to develop all-round student skills. Operated under Quest Nepal, the program aims to produce effective and disciplined students. More than 300 school students are currently engaged in SQC activities through over 30 hubs nationwide, and more than 100 schools across Nepal have approved its curriculum and are using its textbooks.

The SQC concept is believed to have been introduced in Nepal in 1999 by Professor Dinesh Prasad Chapagain of Kathmandu University, while its original model was first applied in Japan’s industrial sector in 1962 for quality improvement.

The annual conference offers students a platform to present detailed reports on the problems they identified, analyzed, and solved within their schools over a six-month period. Participants gain exposure to group analysis, presentation, discussion, collaboration, creativity, communication, and leadership skills.

Organizers stated that SQC practices significantly contribute to improving teacher-student relationships, fostering collaboration in schools, developing life skills, and enhancing character building. They added that all preparations for the upcoming conference have been completed and a warm welcome awaits participating schools, students, teachers, and parents.
