Modern technical school to be built in Krishnapur with Korean Government Support
Dhangadhi: The construction of a modern technical school in Krishnapur Municipality-7, Kanchanpur, has advanced with the support of the Korean government. The final site visit for the project, backed by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), was conducted on Monday, according to municipal sources.
The inspection team included KOICA Country Director Muheon Kang, Deputy Director Chong Hee Choi, and City EVTA Executive Director Mahesh Bhattarai, who reviewed the proposed site in detail. Mayor Hemraj Ojha stated that this was the final inspection and that the construction process is now set to move forward rapidly, with a budget of approximately Rs 1.4 billion approved by the Korean government’s parliament. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed, with the local level committed to providing essential infrastructure including energy, water, and roads.
The school will feature housing facilities for teachers and students. Initially, courses in technical subjects such as electro-mechanical and electrical engineering will be offered, with plans to introduce additional short- and long-term programs based on demand. The municipality has already provided 30,000 square meters of land for the project, with the possibility of extending the area if required.
KOICA Director Muheon Kang expressed enthusiasm about implementing a project in the Far West for the first time, noting that most projects in Nepal are typically centered in Kathmandu. He highlighted that the school will provide local youth and underprivileged students access to quality technical education.
The school, to be constructed adjacent to the municipality’s ward office, will offer training in electrical engineering, automobile engineering, tourism, and hospitality. Courses ranging from six months to three years will be available, with KOICA supplying laboratories, equipment, and technical materials.
The municipality anticipates that the school will contribute significantly to producing skilled, professional, and employment-oriented human resources in the Far West region.
