Over 6,000 new voters registered in Sudurpaschim province

Dhangadhi: A total of 6,212 new voters have been added in Sudurpaschim Province as part of the ongoing voter list collection and update for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun.

According to the Provincial Election Office, Dhangadhi, from Asoj 10 to Kartik 17, 4,083 males, 2,127 females, and two others were newly registered. In Kailali, 1,848 new voters have been added, including 1,195 males and 653 females. Similarly, 1,593 new voters, including 1,053 males and 540 females, have been registered in Kanchanpur, informed Acting Chief Prem Raj Bhatta.

In other districts, 126 males and 65 females have been added in Dadeldhura, while 191 new voters, including 170 males and 75 females, have been registered in Doti. Likewise, 448 new voters have been added in Baitadi, including 293 males and 155 females, and 625 new voters in Achham, including 414 males and 211 females.

In Bajhang, 542 new voters have been registered, including 363 males and 179 females, while Bajura has added 343 new voters, including 219 males, 122 females, and two others.

The government formed after the Genji movement has scheduled the House of Representatives elections for Falgun 21. Voter registration for the general election following the Genji movement is also underway.

Acting Chief Bhatta said that people are showing strong enthusiasm in registering their names. “The crowd of people registering their voter list is still there,” he said. “We have been keeping the office open until 6 p.m.” The collection and updating of the voter list will continue until Kartik 30.
