Commission of inquiry team concludes field visit to Kailali
Dhangadhi: The Commission of Inquiry team that visited Kailali to assess the damage caused during the Gen-z movement and hold discussions with stakeholders has returned to Kathmandu. The team concluded its visit on Saturday after collecting details of the losses incurred during the Gen-z movement on Bhadra 23 and 24.
During its stay in Dhangadhi, the investigation team held discussions with local stakeholders on Friday. Commission member Bishweshwor Prasad Bhandari stated that the initial estimate of the material damage caused during the movement amounts to Rs. 250 billion.
He noted that, in addition to extensive property damage resulting from arson attacks on government offices, several important state documents were also destroyed. The commission stated that a detailed study would be carried out covering issues such as state repression, violent incidents, and property losses during the movement.
The investigation team has now completed its data collection in both Kailali and Kanchanpur districts.
