One-megawatt hydropower project launched in Gannigad, Baitadi
Baitadi: A one-megawatt small hydropower project is set to be constructed in Dilashaini Rural Municipality, Baitadi, utilizing the water of Gannigad Khol from wards 1 and 2.
The foundation stone of the project, developed by Kanchan Urja Pvt. Ltd., was recently laid in a ceremony attended by promoter company Chairman Anish Gautam, local representative Jan Kumar Ghardi, and engineer Dr. Krishna Prasad Dulal.
Chairman Gautam stated that a power purchase agreement for the project had been signed with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) on 19 Mangsir 2080. He added that construction will commence soon after Dashain, with a target to generate electricity within a year and six months.
Dipendra Bahadur Rana, a company representative, confirmed that the electricity produced will be integrated into the national grid via the Balanch substation. The project will also offer investment opportunities for local residents and affected communities interested in participating financially.
