Foundation stone of Dodhara Chandani dry port to be laid during PM’s visit to India: Minister Bhandari
Kanchanpur: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari announced that preparations are underway to lay the foundation stone of the Dodhara Chandani Dry Port in Kanchanpur during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s upcoming visit to India.
During an inspection of the dry port construction site, Minister Bhandari stated, “We have moved forward in the process of starting the Dodhara Chandani Dry Port after a long wait. A contract agreement has been signed to build it at a cost of Rs 3.8 billion. A program has been set to lay the foundation stone on behalf of the Prime Ministers of the two countries during the Prime Minister’s visit to India.”
He further mentioned that Nepal is in positive discussions with India to use other commercial ports. “India’s Mundra Port, which is close to the western Nepal border, is our priority. It will provide the shortest trade route with third countries, facilitating inter-country trade,” he said.
The dry port’s construction, supported financially and technically by the Government of India, is expected to play a significant role in the economic prosperity of Nepal’s Far West region.
