1.62 million cubic feet of wood collected, 21,322 quintals of herbs exported from sudurpaschim province

Dhangadhi: A total of 1.62 million cubic feet of wood has been collected from community forests in Sudurpaschim Province, according to the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment. The same volume of wood was extracted in the previous fiscal year 2082/83.

The ministry reported that 2,258 pieces of firewood were also collected, of which 39,484 cubic feet have been distributed through the supply committee, benefiting 430 households.

In addition, 21,322 quintals of herbs were exported in the last fiscal year, and 4,040,805 kg of khato were disposed of, generating revenue of Rs 240,174,682.

Herbs have been cultivated on 35 hectares of forest land in the province, while seven hectares have been designated as religious forests. The ministry further stated that 17 hectares of encroached forest have been cleared, and 1,447,350 trees have been planted across 122 hectares of forest area.
