Chief Minister Shah calls for national and international recognition of far-west tourist destinations
Kailali: Chief Minister of the Far West Province, Kamal Bahadur Shah, has emphasized the need to promote the region’s tourist destinations at both the national and international levels.
Speaking at the annual progress review seminar for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, organized by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment today, Shah said the Far West has immense tourism potential and that identified tourist areas should be officially recognized and promoted globally.
He noted that the provincial government is prioritizing infrastructure development in the region’s tourist sites and highlighted the need to improve travel access to Badimalika, a religious and tourist destination already gaining national and international attention.
Expressing grief over the recent tragic deaths of two visitors to Badimalika, Shah directed the deployment of a technical team to expedite infrastructure work in the area, ensuring its completion within the year.
He thanked the Nepal Army for constructing physical infrastructure in the Badimalika region, describing it as both a center of religious faith in the Far West and a “paradise on earth” for tourism. Shah also instructed that timber collected from forest areas be sold through auctions, with the ministry managing the process via competitive bidding.
