Jayaprithi highway reopens after landslide blockage in Baitadi

Baitadi: The Jayaprithi Highway, which was blocked by a landslide following continuous rainfall, has been reopened.
The highway had been completely closed since 1 a.m. due to a landslide near Ramliyapur in Sigas Rural Municipality-9, Baitadi, and was cleared for traffic at around 10:30 a.m. today, said Police Inspector Balaram Pandey of the District Police Office, Baitadi. The closure had left passengers stranded overnight, particularly affecting those traveling from Baitadi headquarters Gothalapani to Darchula and Dadeldhura.
The landslide, triggered by heavy rain, had covered the road with mud, stones, and tree trunks. Traffic resumed after the debris was cleared using dozers and other equipment in coordination with the Road Division Office, Dadeldhura. According to the Road Division Patan, while the road has been temporarily reopened, drivers are advised to exercise caution.

Local residents, passengers, and drivers have expressed relief after the resumption of traffic. Rajendra Prasad Bhatta, a local resident, emphasized the need for regular road maintenance and alternative route planning to prevent such disruptions in the future.
