Man killed with bamboo stick after confronting wife’s lover in Kanchanpur
Kanchanpur: The death of 35-year-old Ramresar Rana of Silkattijai Camp, Laljhadi Rural Municipality-4, Kanchanpur, has been confirmed as a murder carried out by his wife’s lover.
Rana, who was initially found dead beside his bicycle near his home on April 17, was murdered on the evening of April 16, according to a police investigation. It was earlier believed that Rana had gone missing after dinner on April 16, but further inquiry revealed he was killed the same night.
Superintendent of Police Khadak Bahadur Khatri of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, stated that the incident stemmed from an illicit relationship between Maya Rana, Ramresar’s wife, and Punna Rana of Belauri Municipality-4. On the evening of April 16, Ramresar encountered Maya at his house, leading to a heated altercation between the couple.
During the dispute, Punna Rana attacked Ramresar with a bamboo chopstick, resulting in his immediate death. Punna, with the assistance of Maya Rana and local resident Manmati Chaudhary Rana, dumped the body on the roadside to mislead the investigation.
Following their confessions, the Kanchanpur District Court, on Asad 26, ordered Punna Rana to be remanded in custody for trial. Although Maya Rana and Manmati Chaudhary were granted bail of Rs 100,000 each, they were sent to jail after failing to furnish the bail amount.
The deceased, Ramresar Rana, had been working as a labourer in India.
