Dhangadhi: The Nepali Congress has taken disciplinary action against several leaders and activists in Kailali and other districts for failing to support the party's official candidates during the last general election.

Nearly three and a half years after the election, the party has expelled or suspended more than a dozen individuals for allegedly working against its candidates. The action follows an investigation by the party’s Central Disciplinary Committee, which reviewed evidence such as social media posts, audio, and video clips.

Among those expelled from the party for six months are Bhim Bahadur Shah, a general convention representative of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-2; Purna Kunwar, the outgoing district secretary of Kailali; Ananda Raj Joshi, former general convention member of Dhangadhi-1; and Rabindra Pratap Singh, regional representative of Dhangadhi-2. Other members facing six-month expulsions include Lekhraj Ojha, Subhash Chand, and Bablu Kumar Chaudhary.

The party has also expelled former Minister of Kaski Kumar Khadka, Lumbini General Secretary Bikram Khanal, and Khotang District President Bishnu Kumar Rai for one year. Former Kaski President Krishna KC has been suspended for three months.

Additional disciplinary actions include one-year expulsions for Tehrathum Mahasamiti member Tulsi Subba and Parsa District Constituency No. 1 Regional President Arvind Kumar Gupta.

In Dhanusha, Laxminiya Rural Municipality President Anand Yadav, Sabaila Municipality President Khatru Yadav, Ram Babu Yadav of Dhanushadham Municipality-1, Mukhiyapatti Musaharniya President Fulgen Yadav, and Bhavana Shrestha, Regional Joint Secretary of Kaski District Constituency No. 2, have also been suspended from the party for six months.

The disciplinary decisions were finalized during the Central Disciplinary Committee’s meeting held from Ashad 21 to 25 and made public on Wednesday. Disciplinary Commission Coordinator Ananda Prasad Dhungana issued a statement confirming the actions.
