Dhangadhi: Members of the Accounts Committee of the Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly who visited Naini Lake in India will not receive travel reimbursement from the Provincial Assembly Secretariat.

According to Secretariat Secretary Dev Bahadur Bogati, the committee had received approval from Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari to visit the Lumbini Provincial Assembly on Asad 30. However, after deviating from the approved itinerary and visiting Naini Lake in India instead, the Speaker instructed that no stipend or travel expenses be paid.

"I asked the committee after reports surfaced that they did not go to Lumbini. They confirmed they had not received any allowance and had traveled to Naini Lake at their own expense,” said Secretary Bogati. “Since they did not attend the approved exchange program in Lumbini, they should not be reimbursed.”

An official from the Provincial Assembly Secretariat added that expenses could have been covered had the group visited Lumbini and then proceeded to Naini Lake. “Since they went directly to Naini Lake, it’s now considered a personal visit,” the official said. “A fresh travel approval would be required to revisit Lumbini, but time has run out, which has caused additional complications.”

The delegation, led by Accounts Committee Chairman Akkal Bahadur Rawal, included members Santosh Sharma Thapa, Bel Bahadur Rana, Madhu Bharti, Man Bahadur Dhami, Geeta Devi Mal, Vikram Singh Dhami, and committee secretary Baldev Kapadi.

Despite reports, some committee members have denied the visit. Assembly member Madhu Devi Bharti claimed she was attending her son’s wedding on Asad 6 and posted pictures on social media, while member Geeta Devi Mal stated the Lumbini visit had been postponed.
