Journalism must be made a dignified profession: Chief Minister Shah

Dhangadhi: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has emphasized the need to make journalism a dignified profession.
Speaking at a two-day training organized in Kanchanpur by the Federation of Nepali Journalists Sudurpaschim Province Committee for women journalists, the Chief Minister stated that journalism has reached its current status by overcoming numerous challenges and must now be elevated as a respected field.

He highlighted that the provincial government has allocated budgetary provisions for the upcoming fiscal year to support the media sector. These include the construction of a National News Committee building, the launch of a 'Journalist Capacity Building Program', the establishment of a revolving fund for the 'Martyr Dasharath Chand Memorial Journalism Award', and the development of a studio for Nepal Television.

Former President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Shiva Gaunle, President of the Province Journalists Federation Bharat Shah, former Press Council Nepal member Hari Joshi, and journalist Chitrang Thapa also shared their insights on the state of journalism in the country.
