Kailali customs collects Rs 7.81 arba in revenue over 11 months

Dhangadhi: The Kailali Customs Office has collected revenue amounting to Rs 7.81 arba over a period of 11 months, from Shrawan to mid-Jestha of the current fiscal year.
According to Khim Prasad Aryal, the office’s information officer, the collection includes Rs 2.89 arba from customs duty, Rs 2.91 arba from value-added tax (VAT), Rs 1.95 arba from excise duty, and Rs 1.80 arba from other revenue categories.

The customs office had set an annual revenue target of Rs 11.16 arba for the current fiscal year. The collection so far accounts for 69.99 percent of the target.

Monthly collections include Rs 5.75 crore in Shrawan, Rs 53.84 crore in Bhadra, Rs 67.24 crore in Asoj, Rs 62.78 crore in Kartik, Rs 81.11 crore in Mangsir, Rs 65.87 crore in Poush, Rs 73.2 crore in Magh, Rs 72.76 crore in Falgun, Rs 7.88 crore in Chaitra, Rs 8.18 crore in Baisakh, and Rs 87.13 crore in Jestha.

Aryal cited a decrease in the import of petroleum products and other high-revenue goods, among other factors, as reasons for the shortfall in reaching the revenue target.

In comparison, only Rs 79.18 crore was collected in the last fiscal year against an annual target of Rs 11.58 arba.
