Dhorpatan connected to road network after decades-long wait

Myagdi: A long-awaited road connection linking Myagdi to Dhorpatan in Baglung has finally been established, marking a major milestone in regional connectivity and infrastructure.
The newly opened track serves as an alternative route to the Baglung section of the Mid-Hill Highway and is seen as a vital lifeline for residents of Mangala, Malika, and Dhawalagiri municipalities in Myagdi. The Beni–Darwang–Muna–Jaljala–Dhorpatan road also provides a shorter route between Kathmandu and eastern Rukum via Pokhara and Benighat.

According to Prem Prasad Pun, Chairperson of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality, the Road Division Office in Baglung constructed the track with a federal government budget of Rs 50 million. “Around nine kilometers of road track has been constructed from the forest above Mereni towards Jaljala. A 10-kilometer dirt road had already connected Dhorpatan to Jaljala,” he said.

While a dozer has reached Jaljala, vehicle movement will commence only after leveling work is completed.

Construction of the road initially began from Beni nearly 27 years ago. The newly completed track spans approximately 64 kilometers from Benighat to Jaljala via Muna, Khoriya, and Mareni. Once the remaining section from Benighat to Takshera in eastern Rukum is developed, the route is expected to reduce travel distance by 70 kilometers compared to the existing Baglung section of the Mid-Hill Highway.
