Two women arrested in Kathmandu for honey-trapping and extortion

Dhangadhi: A woman from Godavari, Kailali, has been arrested in Kathmandu on charges of honey-trapping and extorting money from a young man she met on social media.

Mamta Tamang, 34, of Godavari Municipality-10, was arrested along with 34-year-old Aanchal Chouguthi of Bhaktapur Municipality-17 by a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.

According to police, the two women allegedly lured the victim to Thamel, consumed alcohol with him, and secretly recorded his nude photos and videos. They then blackmailed him, threatening to file a criminal case unless he handed over four aanas of land in Kathmandu.

The arrest followed a formal complaint stating that the suspects had extorted a cheque worth Rs 5 lakh from the victim. An investigation is currently underway.
