Timber smuggling uncovered after tractor tire bursts in Kailali

Dhangadhi: A tractor involved in smuggling timber hidden beneath sand was intercepted in Kailali after its tire punctured.

The incident occurred in Balmi, Godavari Municipality-9, where four Sal logs were discovered concealed in a tractor (Se 1 Ta 9517) transporting sand. The vehicle was found near the border of Gauriganga Municipality-6 and Godavari Municipality.

According to police, the tractor suffered a tire puncture on Friday morning, prompting the driver to flee the scene, abandoning the trolley.

The recovered timber has been handed over to the Area Police Office in Chaumala. Authorities have launched a search to locate the absconding driver.
