Mahendra highway blocked in Kanchanpur following fatal accident

Dhangadhi: The Mahendra Highway has been blocked in Kanchanpur following a fatal road accident.

Tensions escalated in Krishnapur Municipality-2, Wank, after a Bolero jeep (Sudurpaschim Province 01-001 Ja 1683) struck 50-year-old local resident Mahendra Bista on Tuesday. The victim succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

In response, family members and local residents blocked the highway by burning tires at Wank Chowk. According to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, the highway has remained obstructed since 2:45 PM on Wednesday.

The driver of the jeep, 21-year-old Ravi Rokaya of Chhabis Pathivera Rural Municipality-2, Bajhang, has been taken into custody along with the vehicle.
