Dhangadhi: Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City of Kailali has called on the Sudurpaschim government to immediately issue the Local Service Act.

The demand comes amid growing disruptions in service delivery following employee protests. Although the Constitution of Nepal mandates permanent service arrangements at the local level, the legislation required to implement this provision remains pending in the Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly.

Local-level employees across the province have been protesting, demanding legal assurances regarding their services, facilities, and career development. Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City stated that daily operations have been significantly hampered since all of its staff began participating in the pressure campaign organized by the Local Level Employees Province Struggle Committee from Baisakh 26, 2082 BS.

Mayor Gopal Hamal sent a formal letter of concern to Sudurpaschim Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah on Tuesday. The letter, originally dispatched on April 30, urges immediate action to complete the legal process and issue the act.

Employees from all 88 local levels in the province have left their offices and gathered in Dhangadhi, staging daily sit-ins in front of the Office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers to press their demands.
