NCC and United secure wins in U-16 Baitadi selection tournament
Baitadi: Ningalashini Cricket Club (NCC) and Baitadi United Cricket Academy registered victories in Monday’s matches of the ongoing district-level selection tournament for the ACC Men’s U-16 East Zone Cup 2025 in Baitadi.
NCC chased down the 135-run target set by Patan with ease, winning the match by eight wickets in just 15 overs. Vikram Bohra starred with an unbeaten 87 runs and was named Player of the Match. Patan’s Jaya Bahadur Nath and Shyam Bista took one wicket each. Earlier, Patan was bowled out for 134 runs in 20 overs at the Dasharath Chand Cricket Ground in Sundarkhali. Dipesh BK remained not out with 24 runs. NCC’s Naveen Singh Bhat impressed with the ball, taking four wickets.
In the second match, Baitadi United defeated Dasharath Chand Academy by four wickets. United successfully chased the target of 136 runs in 16.1 overs, losing six wickets. Mukesh Chand, who contributed 55 runs, was declared Player of the Match. Earlier, Dasharath Chand Academy posted 135 runs in 20 overs, with Neeraj Thapa top-scoring at 38 runs. United’s Deepak Chand took four wickets.
According to tournament scorer Dipendra Bahadur Bohara, the tournament commenced on Baisakh 26 and will conclude on Jestha 1, with seven district teams participating. Baitadi District Cricket Association Secretary Siddharaj Bokati confirmed the participation details, while President Binod Bahadur Chand stated that top performers from the selection tournament will be included in the district team. As per the Asian Cricket Council’s program, the Cricket Association of Nepal will organize the national-level selection tournament in Jestha.
