Dispute erupts as Vice Chair breaks inscription on Mohanyal rural municipality building

Dhangadhi: Vice President of Mohanyal Rural Municipality, Kamal Bahadur Saud, broke the inscription on the newly constructed administrative building in Kailali following its inauguration.
The incident occurred shortly after the building was officially inaugurated by Rural Municipality Chairperson Devidatta Upadhyay. In protest, Vice President Saud removed and broke the inscription plaque.
Saud expressed strong objection to the chairperson inaugurating the new office without inviting all public representatives. “All public representatives should have been invited to the inauguration of an important structure like the administrative building,” he said. “However, the chairperson held the program quietly, as if inaugurating a private house. In protest against that, I broke the inscription.”

In response, Chairperson Upadhyay stated that geographical constraints made it difficult to invite representatives from all wards. “Representatives from nearby wards and the Vice President were also invited. However, he did not come himself,” said Upadhyay.
Chairperson Upadhyay also alleged that Vice President Saud vandalized not only the inscription but also other parts of the building. “It is shameful for a responsible person like the Vice Chairman to behave like this,” he said.
