Local level employees in Sudurpaschim announce protest program demanding enactment of local services law
Dhangadhi: The Sudurpaschim Province Working Committee of the Local Service Employees Network has announced a protest program demanding the enactment of a law governing local services.
In a letter issued on April 17, the committee called on all municipalities, districts, provincial working committees, and local service employees across the province to participate in the scheduled protest activities from April 21 to 26.
According to the announcement, Municipal Struggle Committees will be reconstituted in each municipality on April 21 and 22. If required, district-level committees will be restructured on April 23 and 24, with a decision to be made regarding further protest measures. On April 26, the Province Struggle Committee will convene in Dhangadhi to reconstitute as needed, announce a formal protest program, and prepare a memorandum for effective implementation.
The letter from the Local Level Employees Network Provincial Working Committee emphasizes the need for unity among all employees working at the local level—including those in health services, on contract, and affiliated with various trade unions. It calls on all personnel to stay aligned in their efforts to strengthen local services and focus on advocating for the passage of the Local Services Bill currently registered in the Provincial Assembly, along with the necessary regulations.
