Baitadi: Local facilitation committees have been formed in two local levels of Baitadi district to address the longstanding land issues faced by landless Dalits, squatters, and unorganized settlers.

The Land Problem Resolution Commission District Committee has established these facilitation committees in Pancheshwor and Shivnath Rural Municipalities. Ramesh Pandey, Chairman of the District Committee, stated, “We have formed local facilitation committees in coordination with the municipalities to solve the problems of landless Dalits, landless squatters, and unorganized settlers.”

Each committee will be chaired by the chief coordinator of the respective municipality, with a deputy chief as co-coordinator. The committees will also include representatives of national political parties, ward chairpersons, and other stakeholders. Their role will be to identify landless individuals and groups within the municipality and make recommendations for official certification by the concerned executive body.

Additionally, land branches have been formed in nine of the district’s local levels, with the exception of Dogadakedar Rural Municipality. The District Committee has assigned local branch officers to lead the work at each location. The committee plans to distribute land ownership documents to landless Dalits, squatters, and unorganized settlers as part of the initiative.
